On Saturday 1st February 2025, A New Zealand team of elite riders from RISE UP Foundation is flying to Australia and joining forces with a charitable team from Sydney to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for ‘Longest Static Cycling Class’ . The current World Record sits at 31hrs 34mins (non-stop riding).
We are aiming to hit 33hrs! Funds raised will go to two amazing charitable causes:
– RISE UP Foundation’s own charitable purpose of delivering vocational programmes to our disadvantaged / displaced young Kiwi adults across Aotearoa, and
– Chronic Pain, where approximately 1 in 6 New Zealanders and 1 in 7 Australians suffer from the long-term effects of illness and disabilities that cause chronic pain
5 members of Les Mills New Zealand have come together to be part of the Australasian team to challenge for this coveted title. The pain that they will endure for 33hrs (non-stop cycling) pails into insignificance, compared to what the 4.4 million Australasians who suffer chronic pain (lasts more than 3 months) endure.
Financial support received will enable RISE UP Foundation to disperse net proceeds according to its constitutional purpose and to that of Chronic Pain Australia. Chronic pain can be isolating. It’s invisible, but it impacts every part of a person’s life. This event isn’t just about breaking a record, it’s about connection. Connecting with the broader community, raising awareness, and showing people that they’re not alone in their struggles. We’d love for you to be part of that.
At just 22, Jade brings an inspiring blend of energy and passion to the Guinness World Record attempt for the longest indoor spin class. During the day, she works as a Performance Analyst at Xero, diving into data and analytics. In her spare time, she’s a Les Mills Group Fitness Instructor, specialising in RPM, The Trip, Body Pump and Pilates. Jade first connected with fitness at 15, discovering its transformative power to build resilience and foster personal growth. For her, this record-breaking event is not just a test of endurance but also a chance to inspire others to embrace their own challenges. She’s passionate about sharing the joy and strength that fitness brings whilst raising awareness and support for individuals living with chronic pain in the community—a cause extremely close to her heart.
Growing up in a sports mad family, it was a given that Shar would also follow in their footsteps. From netball, aerobics, middle distance running, outrigger canoe paddling and indoor cycling to name a few, her approach to sport and fitness has always been multi-disciplinary and about having fun. Alongside a love of sport, Shar also cares deeply for the welfare of others. In her professional life, Shar has worked in a number of support roles caring for rangatahi within youth justice and the wider community. It is no surprise then that given the chance to combine both her passion for sport and to raise much needed funds and awareness for the betterment of those people who suffer from chronic pain in their daily lives, Shar is delighted to be involved in such a worthwhile initiative.

Now, as she takes on the Guinness World Record for the longest spin class, Bex is not just testing her limits - she’s raising funds for a life changing cause and proving what’s possible when we push beyond the ordinary. When she’s not on the bike or rallying for a great cause, you’ll find her enjoying the outdoors, hunting down delicious food, or celebrating life’s moments with family and friends.
At his heaviest ‘Clarkie’ weighed in at 125kg, he went for a ride with his mate and struggled to ride his bike up College Hill in Auckland. Embarrassed, he set about changing his lifestyle and managed to shed 47kgs, he was selected and represented New Zealand at the age group world triathlon championships 12 months later. Clarkie is driven by a life mission to help people become better than they think they can be. Working for the last 17 years in the youth justice world using sport as a vehicle he has shown young people that their possibilities are only limited by their imagination. He loves endurance sport and has competed in Triathlon across all distances including Ironman and has completed a 102Km Ultra marathon. This Guinness World Record attempt will really extend anything that he has been involved in physically or mentally as well as raising awareness for some great causes. When not on the bike you will find Clarkie hanging with his whanau or on the sidelines of a football pitch or a running track coaching and mentoring young people.
According to ‘Big Kev’, Spin Classes saved his life! 15yrs ago, he was diagnosed as being morbidly obese, weighing in at just over 154kg. 44kgs lighter and he is now a two-time Guinness World Record holder for ‘Longest Static Cycling Class’ (and is going for his third). A kiwi who spent 19 years across the ditch in Sydney, Kevin returned back to Tāmaki Makaurau in April 2023 to work with a group companies focused on creating better lifestyle options for young kiwi men & women. “The opportunity to take part in this event for these two admirable causes resonates with me for so many reasons. It’s time to boot up and do this all over again!” When he’s not creating a funky new Spin Class playlist, or knocking on government or corporate doors seeking partnerships for RISE UP’s programs, he might be seen enjoying good coffee and a yummy brekky in a local café.
